Please Read – Drop Installation Process – MISS DIG

The following information will help to better understand the home installation (Drop) process.   MEC (Midwest Energy and Communication) will be doing this work.  Pay particular attention to MISS DIG information.

The word Drop,  refers to the the process of bringing the fiber optic cable from the road and attaching it to your home.   As a home owner there is information you should be aware of related to this process.

  • Please do not call MISS DIG  on your own for this project.  MEC’s  Underground Contractor will call in a request to Miss Dig. Miss Dig will locate all public underground facilities on your property – electric, natural gas and telephone.
Once this locating is done, you will see utility flags on your property.
  • When you see this utility flags on your property from the MISS DIG locating process,  it is a good time to mark any buried, personal facilities you may have. The home owner is responsible for marking/identifying  any personal underground facilities, including but not limited to:  sprinkler systems, propane lines, septic lines, water lines, etc.  Cones or  spray paint are good ways to do this
  • MEC does not contact people before beginning work on their property, unless you requested that during the sign up process. If you would like a telephone notification, please email internetinfo@teammidwest.com or call  MEC at 800.492.5989.

Please review this presentation regarding the drop process-
